<note>Introduction and aims:
This belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) contains saponins, triterpenoids, tannins, and alkaloids, flavonoids that can be used to treat skin infections caused by bacteria. This study aims to determine whether the ethanol extract gel of belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) with concentrations of 1% and 3% can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

Method:
This type of research is experimental, to determine the inhibition of the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in gel preparations of ethanol extract of belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) with concentrations of 1% and 3%. The test was carried out by the disc diffusion method with a diameter of 0.60 cm. In this study, Medittol hand sanitizer was used as a positive control and Aqua Pro Injection as a negative control.

Results:
The results of this showed that the ethanol extract gel of belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) with concentrations of 1% and 3% could not inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria., for positive control the inhibition area was 2,03 cm, and negative control was 0,60 cm.

Conclusion:
Based on the results of the study, the ethanol extract gel of belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) with concentrations of 1% and 3% could not inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.
